FIR Lodged Against Former NRC Project Manager in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The office of the NRC State Coordinator on February 13 filed an FIR against the former NRC project manager at the Paltan Bazar Police Station.

According to reports, the then project manager resigned on November 11, 2019 and handed over the charges, however, didnot share the password of the officail email IDs "cpm.nrc.assam@gmail.com" and "pm.spmunrc@gov.in".

Paltanbazar police station said that the FIR from NRC office is being registered but refused to give any details against the accused ex-employee of NRC office.

It is to be mentioned that on February 12, all data of the final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) has been made offline from its official website.

Reportedly due to non-renewal of contract with the IT firm Wipro the data stood offline.

If someone clicks on the space of the NRC website stating ‘Result for all NRC applicants as per Draft NRC & Supplementary list of Inclusion and Exclusion (Final NRC) Link 1 & Link, you will see nothing, except one message ‘this page can’t be reached’.

As per law, unauthorized possession of password is a violation of Section 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923 as it is related to national secuirty and intergrity.
