GUWAHATI: Will the average Guwahatians be plain lucky this time to witness the galaxy of Bollywood celebrities in a moderately priced ticket in 65th Flimfare awards slated to take place in February next year?

This is for the first time the black lady will travel to Assam from Mumbai. However, the cost of tickets  to the gala event in its earlier edition which ranged from Rs 10 thousand to Rs 3 lakhs held in Mumbai does not augur much confidence as the whopping prices of tickets if continues in this edition might as well stop many common people in walking the red carpet with the Bollywood stars.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced that the Assam government will spend Rs 23 crore for the event.

“The government in organizing the event is spending taxpayers’ money so we expect that organizers will keep that in mind while deciding the price of the tickets, so that average man can see the event,” a retired government official said.

Previous years Filmfare which was hosted in Jio Garden BKC, Mumbai saw the ticket price ranging from whooping 3 lakh with a minimum of Rs. 10,000.  Other price slabs are Rs. 12,000, Rs. 15,000, Rs. 40,000, Rs. 50,000,Rs. 75,000,Rs. 1,10,000,Rs. 1,50,000,Rs. 2,25000,Rs. 3,00,000.

“If they keep the prices very high starting from Rs 10,000, I think many common people for whom its once in a lifetime opportunity to see all the stars at one platform will not be able to go. And Mumbai and Guwahati are not same when comes to disposable incomes of individual. So organisers should moderately price the tickets,” Megha Deb, a college going student told G Plus.

It was also announced that 50 per cent sale proceeds from the ticket sale will go the chief ministers relief fund.

Sources close to G Plus stated that the award function is going to be held in Rajib Gandhi Indoor Stadium at Amingaon, however, there is no official confirmation on this.

With stadium designed to accommodate 5000 spectators as per Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) guidelines, it will be interesting to see how the organizers price the tickets in different slabs.

On November 25, the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Times of India group to organize Filmfare Awards in Guwahati.
