GUWAHATI: The president of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino has announced that India will host the U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2020 on March 15 after the association’s council meeting in Miami, USA.
This will be India’s second time hosting the FIFA tournament after the U-17 Men’s World Cup in 2017.
The General Secretary of All India Football Federation (AIFF), Kushal Das told PTI that they were thankful to FIFA for giving them the right to host the U-17 Women’s World Cup as this will raise the profile of women’s football in the country since they have been emphasizing the sport in India. They are happy that their bid was accepted.
This tournament will be the seventh edition since its inception in 2008.
