Ferry Services Between Guwahati And North Guwahati Restricted Due To Rising Water Level

 

GUWAHATI: In response to the escalating water levels, swift currents, and the presence of floating debris including logs and submerged materials in the Brahmaputra River, the Inland Water Transport (I.W.T.) Division Guwahati-7 has initiated a temporary restriction on the operation of departmental boats and vessels involved in the Guwahati-based ferry services.

Effective as of August 11, 2023, all departmental boats and vessels operating within the Guwahati ferry services will be restricted from carrying out their services after 6:30 PM.

This preventive measure will remain in effect until further notice, with authorities closely monitoring the evolving situation.

“This is for general information to all concerned that in view of rising water level and heavy current as well as floating logs and other submerged materials in the river Brahmaputra, operation of all departmental boats/vessels in the Guwahati based ferry services under I.W.T. Division Guwahati-7 are restricted after 6.30 PM w.e.f. 11-08-2023 until further order. This is in view of safety of the public lives & properties,” stated a notice by the IWT.
