This was recently confirmed by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia.
“BCCI will follow every uniform-related ICC rule during the Champions Trophy,” Saikia said, according to reports. “Whatever the other teams do regarding the logo and dress code, we will adhere to it in true letter and spirit.”
Speculations arose from earlier reports claiming the BCCI objected to Pakistan’s name on the jerseys due to strained political relations. However, it is understood that no such concerns were raised with the ICC.
The protocol of printing the host nation’s name on team jerseys is a standard practice for ICC tournaments. In the 2023 ICC World Cup held in India, the Pakistani team followed the same protocol without any issues.
Meanwhile, whether Indian captain Rohit Sharma will participate in pre-tournament media engagements in Pakistan remains uncertain. These events, including a press conference and official photoshoot in Lahore, are customary for ICC tournaments. “The decision on Rohit Sharma travelling to Pakistan is still under consideration,” Saikia reportedly stated.
