Preliminary reports suggest that Deka allegedly died by suicide. Authorities arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Jalukbari police station said, “We have found the body this morning and authorities are investigating the case. We cannot confirm the reason or cause of death, as of yet.”
Deka was under scrutiny in a case registered by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC). Last month, officials conducted a raid at her Jalukbari residence as part of an ongoing probe into alleged corruption linked to recruitment in the Handloom and Textile Department during 2019-20.
The investigation focuses on irregularities in appointments for six positions, along with allegations of Deka’s involvement in a land scam. Further inquiries are ongoing.
