GUWAHATI: An eviction drive was conducted in Silsako Beel in the Barbari area of Guwahati on Monday.
While speaking to the media, the District Commissioner (DC) of Kamrup Metro, Pallav Gopal Jha said that a sudden operation has been conducted to decrease the artificial flooding in the city of Guwahati.
“The Silsako Beel consists of the outlets of the main water channels in the city of Guwahati. The GMDA is assessing the space and whatever administrative support or magisterial support is required by the GMDA, we will try to provide it,” said Jha while speaking to the media.
A total of 453 families will be evicted and the operation is expected to be completed by Tuesday morning.
