GUWAHATI: The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) conducted a two-day zonal program on July 15 and 16 at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati. The event featured brainstorming sessions with various Trade Union leaders, Employers, Employees' representatives, Labour Secretaries, and their representatives from all North Eastern States and Sikkim. The objective was to expand the coverage of the ESI Scheme in all districts of these states.

Kamal Kishore Soan, the Director General of ESIC, chaired all the sessions. The meetings were attended by Commissioner-level officers from ESIC Headquarters, as well as the Zonal Insurance Commissioner and Medical Commissioner.
The program included meetings with Employees’ and Employers’ representatives to gather ground-level feedback and suggestions aimed at improving the service delivery system and healthcare under the ESI Scheme in the North Eastern states and Sikkim. Additionally, meetings were held with the Secretaries of the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) boards of the states to discuss issues related to construction workers.
