GUWAHATI: Basistha Police in Guwahati arrested Enforcement Officer Naba Deka on Friday, April 18, in connection with alleged illegal money collection from trucks and dumpers transporting construction materials such as stone, sand, and soil without valid authorisation.

Deka, an Assistant Enforcement Inspector posted at the Office of the District Transport Officer (M) in Betkuchi, is currently residing in Hatigaon and is originally from Nalbari. The alleged collections took place in areas including Jorabat, 14th Mile, and Khanapara.
The arrest follows long-standing allegations of unauthorised financial dealings related to the transport of construction materials. Police initiated suo motu action after receiving credible information regarding the operations.
In addition to Deka, five others have been arrested in connection with the case. They have been identified as Nasiruddin Ahmed, Saurab Rongpi, Tulen Rongpi, Bikul Ingty, and Phidingstar Nungrum.
Authorities have launched a further investigation to identify any additional individuals involved.
