Eminent Educationist Taburam Taid Passes Away In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Eminent Educationist and former chairman of SEBA, Taburam Taid breathed his last on August 17.

Taid who was born in North Lakhimpur's Gunasuti Oyengia Village was admitted in Guwahati's Apollo Hospitals.

Assam CM Sonowal on his twitter handle wrote,"My condolences on the demise of educationist and linguist Tabu Ram Taid. His works towards enriching the Assamese language and empowering the Mising community are invaluable. May his departed soul rest in peace."

Taid joined Cotton College as a lecturer in the Department of English following which Taid joined as an educational administrator in 1981 and was posted as a deputy director of Public Instruction.

He retired from Assam government service in 2000, however, he continued as the SSB chairman till February 2004.

CM Sonowal have asked to make all necessary arrangements to honour Taid with a State Funeral.

Taid's last rites will be held in Gogomukh in Lakhimpur.
