GUWAHATI: The Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA), urged the State government to ensure security to media persons with enacting a special protection law at the earliest and demanded stringent actions against the culprits who stabbed Guwahati-based journalist.
According to reports, Chakrapani Parashar, who works for a regional news channel, has been stabbed by a restaurant owner and suffered serious injuries in various parts of his body is presently recovering at the GNRC Hospital, Guwahati.
Allegedly, the journalist had a quarrel with Sayed Ali Ahmed, the owner of Albar Eats after which the owner of the restaurant had been looking for Parashar to stab him with a dagger.
Currently four persons, namely – Bhabesh Das, Nitin Sarma, Niraj Ahmed, and Sayed Ali Ahmed have been detained by police in relation to the incident.
