Elephant Calf Dies In Titabar After Getting Separated From Herd

GUWAHATI: A one-and-a-half-month-old elephant calf, separated from its herd, met its end after falling into a mud pit in Titabar, Assam, on November 27.

According to reports, the event unfolded in the forest fringe hamlets of the Rangajan locality in Titabar, located within the Jorhat district.

According to reports, it is likely that the calf may have wandered away from the Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary near Mariani in pursuit of food, ultimately becoming separated from its herd. The vulnerability of young elephants and their tendency to stray at times causes demise.

Responding to the incident, forest personnel reached the location and retrieved the carcass of the elephant calf from the mud pit, reports stated.
