On the occasion of International Women's Day, notable women leaders, including Purnima Devi Barman, celebrated for her hargila conservation efforts, were honoured for their dedicated work in wildlife protection, particularly for the endangered `hargila’ bird (Greater Adjutant Stork). Barman spearheads a collective of women called Hargila Army and advocates environmental preservation, especially in Guwahati.

Barman, along with Kamrup Metro District Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan and renowned actor Diganta Hazarika, engaged in motivating voters to partake in the electoral process and exercise their democratic rights responsibly. Sattawan praised Barman and the "hargila army" for their outstanding contributions to wildlife preservation and encouraged voters to come forward and cast their votes diligently.
