GUWAHATI: For the first time in India’s electoral history, that the Election Commission (EC) has held a press conference on Monday, June 3, one day before the counting votes for Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The press conference was being held today, June 3, in New Delhi at 12:30 pm.
The full bench of the Election Commission of India addressed the conference ahead of results days, and the media invite by the EC said "Press Conference by Election Commission of India on General Elections 2024".
The Deputy Election Commissioners used to hold media briefings after each phase of polls up until the 2019 Parliamentary Elections, but the practice has been discontinued.
The seven-phase 2024 General Elections commenced on April 19 and concluded on Saturday, June 1. However, an official said that repolling is underway for the Barasat and Mathurapur Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal based on the decisions of returning officers and district election officers.
The counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha polls will take place at from 8am on Tuesday, June 4.
