West Bengal is infamous for political violence. India’s political landscape is regularly marked by various kinds of conflicts, which at times culminate in incidents of violence. West Bengal has a long history of political violence which has persisted over many decades and has deeply impacted its political scenario. In recent years Tripura is also becoming infamous for political violence. In most of the states in India political violence is mostly reported during elections.

Assam has a history of violence sometimes political in nature, but with justified reasons like Assam Agitation, CAA protest and so on. The recent assault on Congress MP Rakibul Hussain in Assam's Nagaon district underscores a troubling escalation of political violence in the state. On February 20, Hussain and his personal security officers were attacked by masked assailants wielding cricket bats while en route to a party meeting in Gunomari village. Although the MP escaped unhurt, his security detail sustained minor injuries. This incident has ignited widespread condemnation and protests, highlighting the volatile political climate in Assam. Such incidents raise a question: where are we going.
