DTO Kamrup Metro To Give Free Driving Classes To Youths, Applications Sought

GUWAHATI: The District Transport Office of Kamrup Metro (M) will be providing free driving classes to youths in order to provide employment and prevent road accidents.

The DTO will be providing free driving classes to a total of  200 youths, 50 from every constituency of the district- Guwahati East LAC, Guwahati West LAC, Dispur LAC, Jalukbari LAC, following directives of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 

The driving lessons will be provided to youths belonging to families below the poverty line (BPL).

Interested youths may submit their applications at the DTO Kamrup (M). The candidates must be at least class 8 pass and between 18 years to 35 years of age. 

The training course will be for 45 days. After successful completion of training, each candidate will be provided a driving license, Rs. 3,375 as an appreciation grant and a proper certificate to apply for jobs in various sectors. 

A district selection and training committee has been formed under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, and the DTO (Licensing) Gautam Das. Also present in the committee are the Police Commissioner, and members of the Health Department, ITI, employment exchange, Assam Skill Development Mission, and others. 

The training will be provided by driving schools with government certification and by trainers who have five years of training and a certificate from the Assam Skill Development Mission. Trainers with 2 years of experience in tourism under the soft skill and personality development program will be part of the training program. 

Interested candidates can collect the application forms from the office of the DTO Kamrup (M) at Betkuchi in Guwahati and submit them along with 3 passport size photos, education qualification certificate, and proof of address.

For age proof, birth certificate, Aadhaar Card, Pan Card, or school leaving certificate will be accepted. For address proof, candidates can provide Voter ID, Aadhaar, etc.
