GUWAHATI: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) vide an order approved Defence Research Laboratory (DRL) Tezpur as a COVID-19 testing Centre.
The order directed the following to be ensured:
1) Facility, equipment processes are compliant to ICMR guidelines for COVID-19 testing.
2) Safety of the manpower involved in COVID-19 testing and laboratory environment with respect to biosafety.

The order dated June 1, made the announcement about Secretary Department of Defence Research & Development (DDR&D) and Chairman DRDO's approval of the proposal for establishment of DRL Tezpur as one of the COVID-19 testing centres.
The State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, took to Twitter to thank the Defence Minister for the same. “In yet another development that strengthens our ongoing fight against a pandemic, I am pleased to share that @DRDO_India has approved Defence Research Laboratory, Tezpur as an authorized testing centre for #COVID19. I thank @DefenceMinIndia for this.” tweeted the minister.
