GUWAHATI: Google-owned YouTube on Tuesday temporarily suspended US President Donald Trump's channel and removed a video for violating its policy against inciting violence.

YouTube has announced that it has removed new content posted on the outgoing US President Donald Trump's channel amid fears of more violence erupting in the country. The announcement came on January 13 in the wake of US Capitol riots.

"In light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to Donald J. Trump’s channel for violating our policies. It now has its 1st strike & is temporarily prevented from uploading new content for a *minimum* of 7 days," YouTube said in a statement.

YouTube's actions come days after Facebook and Twitter banned Trump from their platforms entirely, and amid pushback from Google's newly formed union, which slammed the company's response to recent violence as "lackluster."
