Doctor In Guwahati’s Beltola Accused Of Assaulting Street Vendor

 

GUWAHATI: A doctor in Beltola, Guwahati, is facing allegations of assault and extortion following a dispute with a local street vendor on Tuesday, March 11. According to the vendor, the doctor physically attacked him and assaulted his wife after a disagreement over the location of the vendor’s stall, which was set up in front of the doctor’s chamber.

The disagreement reportedly began when the doctor allegedly asked the vendor for payments in exchange for allowing the stall to run. The situation worsened when the doctor filed a complaint with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), and a vacate order was issued.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Basistha Police station confirmed the incident, saying, “A fight broke out over a shop set up in front of the doctor’s chamber. The situation escalated into physical violence, leading both parties to lodge FIRs. The charges are bailable, and they will be released on bail.”
