Dispur Police Arrests Assam NSUI Vice President

GUWAHATI: Assam NSUI Vice President Zubair Anam has been arrested by Dispur Police today from Rajiv Bhawan on January 31.

According to reports, Anam was arrested when he was addressing a press meet at Rajiv Bhawan.

Anam was allegedly involved in the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra vandalism incident during the anti-CAA protest in December 2019 and on the basis of a case registered in Dispur Police Station.

Earlier, Assam’s Youth Congress President Kamrul Islam Choudhury has been arrested on charges of alleged vandalism during the protests opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which erupted across Guwahati as well as the entire state after the contentious Act was passed by the centre.

Choudhury was arrested for allegedly indulging in acts of violence during the anti-CAA protests.
