Dispur College Launches Literacy Programme Training For Non-Literates

 

GUWAHATI: Dispur College hosted the inauguration of the training programme for surveyors as part of the New India Literacy Programme (NILP) on December 15. The initiative is specifically designed for individuals aged 15 years and above who are non-literates.

The comprehensive scheme encompasses various components, including Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Critical Life Skills (covering areas such as financial literacy, digital literacy, legal literacy, healthcare, and education), Basic Education, Vocational Skills, and Holistic adult education courses. During the inaugural event, an appeal was made to the public, encouraging everyone to actively volunteer for the scheme. 

Taking to X, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu stated, “Inaugurated training of surveyors under New India Literacy Programme (NILP) at Dispur College today. The scheme is targeted at all non-literates of age 15 years and above. The components of the scheme are, namely; Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Critical Life Skills (financial literacy, digital literacy, legal literacy, healthcare and education), Basic Education, Vocational Skills, and Holistic adult education courses. I appeal to everyone to volunteer for the scheme.”
