Guwahati: DiMJAA files case against Badruddin Ajmal for threatening life of Journalist

GUWAHATI: The Digital Media Journalists Association of Assam (DiMJAA) has filed an FIR against  Badruddin Ajmal, the president of All India United Democratic Forum (AIUDF) and MP from Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency. 

In the wake of Ajmal’s severe misbehavior with ETV journalist, Kabir Mandal during a media briefing at Mancachar in Dhubri district of Assam, the DiMJAA mentioned in the FIR that Ajmal not only misbehaved with the journalist and used abusive language, but also threatened to kill him and the DiMJAA views this as a serious threat and even a breach of criminal code of conduct. 

By filing this FIR, the DiMJAA hopes that the required action will be taken regarding this complaint so that the life of journalists on duty are ensured safety. A copy of the viral video along with the FIR was also submitted for reference of the police.

The case was registered by Dispur Police Station in Guwahati under case number (No.3907/18 u/s 294/352/506).

The Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) also after this incident has demanded a special protection law for journalists across the country to protect journalists on duty. They also urged the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal to take the required steps to bring this matter to a close at the earliest.
