GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced the launch of a new digital portal connecting Grade III and Grade IV employees which will allow them to apply for mutual transfer online. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the portal is expected to go live on October 2.

Furthermore, the General Administration Department has issued a notice to all departments requesting that employee data be compiled and submitted in advance of the implementation date, to allow sufficient time for the emerging technology. All the departments are mandated to submit the necessary employee data before or on September 25 using an excel sheet. This essential data will support the setup of the portal and effective workforce management.
The once paper format is expected to lessen the paperwork, while potentially increasing response time with mutual transfer request approvals, and general access to information.
