GUWAHATI: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA of Dibrugarh constituency sparked controversy after he compared the Muslim community with cows that don’t yield milk.
Dibrugarh BJP MLA Prasanta Phukan, soaped up a controversy after he said that “Muslims are like cows that don’t give milk."

Phukan made this controversial statement while talking about the voter pattern in the Muslim community in the Lok Sabha elections.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Debabrata Saikia of Congress wrote to the Speaker of the Assembly on May 2 demanding stern action against the Dibrugarh MLA.
Earlier, Phukan told the media that “Ninety percent Hindus voted for BJP, and 90 percent people from the Muslim community did not vote for us. If a cow is not giving milk, what is the point of feeding it fodder?”
