GUWAHATI: The National Medical Commission has approved a new medical college in Dhubri, Assam on August 8. It will be the ninth medical institute in the northeastern state.
Additionally, approval has been granted for starting MBBS course with an intake of 100 students annually for the academic year 2022-23, a letter from Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) under the National Medical Commission (NMC), stated.
The medical assessment and rating board (MARB) Undergraduate Section of the NMC examined the assessors report, remarks of the UG expert groups on infrastructure facilities, availability of faculty and other facilities.
Sharing the NCM letter Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted:
“Glad to share that the MBBS course of new Dhubri Medical College (9th medical college of Assam) under Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences with 100 seats has received the approval of Medical Assessment & Rating Board under the National Medical Commission.”
