GUWAHATI: A person was apprehended today by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, (DVAC), Assam in Dhubri, on bribery charges.

The person identified as Nurul Islam Mollah, the Secretary in the Office of Alamganj Gram Panchayat was caught red-handed by the DVAC authorities after he allegedly accepted ₹10,000 in his office for sanctioning funds under the MGNREGA scheme.

DVAC, Assam, took to X to put out, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Nurul Islam Mollah, Secretary of O/O the Alamganj Gram Panchayat, Dist- Dhubri, after he accepted Rs.10,000/- in his office for sanctioning fund under MGNREGA scheme.”

The individual has been taken in and further investigations are underway.
