GUWAHATI: To laud the act of bravery and selflessness shown by the Officer-In-Charge (OC) of the Patharkandi Police station in the Karimganj district of Assam, the Director General of Police (DGP), Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta awarded OC Samarjit Basumatary the ‘DGP’s Commendation Gold Medal’ today, November 1.
The DGP’s Commendation Medals are given to personnel for their outstanding meritorious work.
Basumatary had jumped into the Longai River to prevent a man from committing suicide and dragged him ashore on the morning of October 31. The man is now stable and, in the hospital, receiving appropriate medical treatment.
