GUWAHATI: Rajiv Das, DFO of Golaghat, wanted in connection with the multi-crore Doigrung illegal sand-mining scam was arrested in Guwahati on 1st August, Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offences (BIEO) arrested Das who has been absconding as the heat of the investigation had reached his doorsteps.
Das is accused of colluding with sand contractors in operating an illegal sand-mining racket in Doigrung river in Golaghat through fake challans (invoice).
