Delhi Court orders FIR against Arnab Goswami after Shashi Tharoor files Complaint

GUWAHATI: A Patiala court has ordered Delhi police to register an FIR against Republic TV editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami. Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor has filed a complaint against him, according to Bar & Bench.

According to the complaint, Goswami allegedly accessed confidential documents that were a part of an investigation report and the internal notings of police records in connection to the death of Tharoor's wife, Sunanda Pushkar.

Tharoor further alleged that it is not permitted to share details of the probe with the public or media pending probe. The complaint also alleged that the news channel deliberately made defamatory remarks against him “to increase viewership of their news channel.”

It has also been alleged that Republic TV has accessed Tharoor’s emails without his consent in addition to accessing confidential documents on various new shows of the channel relating to Sunanda Pushkar’s death.

Tharoor claimed that he had filed police complaints regarding the theft of documents and his email hacking but no action has been taken by the Police yet.

Metropolitan Magistrate, Dharmender Singh had passed an order on January 21 to direct the Delhi Police to register an FIR against the accused persons.
