GUWAHATI: In a recent development, the Governor of Assam has announced the extension of the timeline for the payment of settlement premiums for applicants under Mission Basundhara 2.0.
The new deadline for full payment or the first instalment of 30% for town and peripheral lands is now set for January 31, 2024.
The previous deadline for settlement premium payments was December 31, 2023. However, recognising the potential challenges faced by applicants, the Governor has chosen to extend the deadline by one month.
It is important to note that this extension is a one-time provision, and no further extension will be granted beyond January 31, 2024. The Governor's office has made it clear that the offer of settlement will stand canceled for any applicant failing to make the required payment by the extended deadline. The cancellation will be effective from February 1, 2024.
Mission Basundhara 2.0 is a government initiative focused on settling land-related matters in Assam, and the extension is expected to provide applicants with the necessary time to fulfill their financial commitments.
