In an incident that requires probe, a customer who had placed a telephonic order at KFC Ulubari, after picking up the number from the food outlet's Google listing, was cheated off her money.

Parlee Gogoi, a corporate executive, called the number she found on KFC Ulubari's website and the call was picked up by a male voice who confirmed that it was the KFC Lachit Nagar outlet. She placed her order amounting to Rs. 235/- for a home delivery service and was asked to pay the amount upfront via PayTM. She did so and found that her order was not delivered even over two hours. She went to the KFC outlet personally, only to find that her order never got placed at KFC Lachit Nagar.

On enquiry, it came to light that the number available on Google search page against the KFC Lachit Nagar outlet is a fraudulent number. What was highly shocking was the fact that Mrs Gogoi was not the only victim who had been cheated by the number. Earlier as many as eight cases had been reported who had the same experience.

Talking to G Plus exclusively, the victim said “I had to pay through Paytm for someone who was waiting for the food. KFC is a brand, and we common people expect a better service. When in need, we all search contact numbers on Google. If existing brands like KFC starts to deliver poor quality service, how can we expect other brands to come to our city?”

Mrs Gogoi will also register a case against the fraud to the police.
