GUWAHATI: Before the Assam Education Minister, Siddhartha Bhattacharya has settled into his official residence in Ministers Colony in Dispur himself, his four new Jersey Cows have already made themselves comfortable in the official MLA residence.

Bhattacharya has started a dairy farm inside his official residence in Dispur. He has brought in jersey cows especially for this purpose.

These cows have been especially bought for the purpose of dairy farming and they have four employees who manage them and get paid Rs. 300 per day.

The milk produced by these cows, approximately 20 to 25 litres every day is used for the minister’s personal use and for the temples of Guwahati.

This is the first time in Assam that a cabinet minister has decided to start a dairy farm inside his official residence. The only other minister to do so in India is former Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav who had a cow farm inside his residence.
