GUWAHATI: With 2,116 more persons testing positive for COVID-19 on August 19, Assam's total tally has reached 84,317.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “2116 #COVID cases detected today out of 40389 tests done in last 24 hours. Positivity rate - 5.33%. Kamrup (M)- 311, Cachar- 190, Dibrugarh- 174, Jorhat- 125."
Further, with 2,054 persons being discharged from different hospitals and COVID care centres in the state, Assam now stands with 23,753 active cases as on August 19.

So far, 60,348 persons have recovered from the viral disease in Assam. The death toll stands at 213.
