COVID-19: India Records Over 13,000 New Cases in 24 Hours, Assam Tally Nears 5,000 Mark

GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 210 new cases as per health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s latest tweet at 11.40 pm on June 18. 

With this rise in numbers, the state has a total of 4,904 coronavirus positive cases of which 2,044 are active. While 2,848 persons have been cured and discharged, 9 persons have passed away so far. 

Coronavirus cases in India stand at 3,80,532 with 1,63,248 active cases and 12,573 deaths across the country so far, as per latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Over 13,000 new cases have been reported across the country over the last 24 hours with more than 300 deaths recorded in a day.

The death toll in the national capital stands at 1,969 with a total number of 49,979 cases. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected with 1,20,504 cases in total; the state has recorded 5,751 deaths which is the highest reported among all states.

Cases continue to rise in the southern state of Tamil Nadu with 44,661 52,334 cases and the number of positive cases in Gujarat stands at 25,601 with 1,591 deaths so far.
