GUWAHATI: The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro), Biswajit Pegu, has directed the Circle Officers of concerned revenue circles to seal the vicinities where people have tested positive for the coronavirus with immediate effect, vide orders, turning them into containment zones.
The following is the list of areas demarcated as Containment Zones by the district authorities:
1. Lakhitari under Khetri Police Station
2. Pandu Railway New Colony
3. Betkuchi
4. Japorigog
5. Borbari
6. Bishnupur, Krishna Nagar
7. Dhirenpara
8. Pub-Sarania
9. Bathou Nagar, Geeta Mandir
10. Krishna Nagar, Gosala
11. Central Jail Premises, Lokhra
12. Indrapur Hill Top, Near Medical College
13. Lichubagan, Hengerabari
14. Arihant Apartment, Panbazar
15. Syamkunj Apartment, Lakhinagar, R G Baruah Road
16. Hajongbori Village, Changrapur
17. Bhaskar Nagar B- Block, Fatasil
18. Sarabbhati, Guwahati
19. Athgaon, Guwahati

As per the operational guidelines issued by the government, people residing in containment zones must confine themselves to their homes. Movement of persons within the zone too is not allowed unless for emergencies.
The perimeter of such zones is fenced with barricades and access to all roads is closed barring one common entry and exit point which is monitored by security personnel.
With further relaxations in the nationwide Unlock 1.0 with malls, restaurants and places of worship being permitted to open from today, it may be noted that all such facilities within containment zones are directed to remain shut unless the order of the area being demarcated as a containment zone is withdrawn.
