COVID-19: Assam Reports 4,158 Cases, Nationwide Death Toll Close to 10,000

GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 40 new cases as per health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s latest tweet at 11.35 am on June 15. 

With this rise in numbers, the state has a total of 4,158 coronavirus positive cases of which 2,187 are active. While 1,960 persons have been cured and discharged, 8 persons have passed away so far. 

Among the recent cases, 31 are from Jorhat, 3 are from Dhemaji, 2 from Biswanath, 2 from Dhubri, 1 from Lakhimpur and 1 is from Dibrugarh.

Coronavirus cases in India stand at 3,32,424 with over 1,53,106 active cases and 9,520 deaths across the country so far, as per latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Over 11,000 new cases have been reported across the country over the last 24 hours with more than 300 deaths recorded in a day.

The death toll in the national capital stands at 1,327 with a total number of 41,182 cases. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected with 1,07,958 cases in total; the state has recorded 3,950 deaths which is the highest reported among all states.

Cases continue to rise in the southern state of Tamil Nadu with 44,661 cases and the number of positive cases in Gujarat stands at 23,544 with 1,477 deaths so far.
