GUWAHATI: In a recent development, a lower court in Assam has issued a stay order on the release of the highly anticipated Assamese movie 'Sri Raghupati.’
The Metropolitan Magistrates Court took this action in response to allegations of breach of contract made by former producer Suruj Sarma.
The case was filed by Dhritimaan Sarma, the son of Suruj Sarma, who accused the filmmakers of violating the terms of their agreement. After hearing the arguments presented by both parties, the Metropolitan Magistrates Court ordered the restraining of the movie's release, as per reliable sources.
'Sri Raghupati,' featuring renowned actor Ravi Sarma, was scheduled to hit theatres on June 2.
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Preety Kongana, Priyam Pallavi, Siddhartha Sarma, Arun Nath, and Arun Hazarika, among others.
Talking to the media actor Ravi Sarma said that the Certificate has the name of Sailen Sharma. When the certificate is issued, the censor board asks for a set of complete verifications. Registration Certificate, Agreement, Affidavit, Copyright etc. And so on, they give a certificate by looking at everything. While having that certificate, there should not be a dispute over ownership. If we have to postpone the show for them, we will go to court seeking compensation. We hope the court will rule in our favour tomorrow.
