GUWAHATI: A substantial consignment of codeine phosphate syrup, a type of cough syrup worth ₹5.7 lakh was seized by the city police in Hatkhuwapara, on June 21.

A team from Azara Police Station under the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) intercepted the massive consignment of banned Codeine Phosphate Syrup.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team raided the warehouse of Apex Courier Service in Hatkhuwapara, where they discovered 24 cartons containing a total of 2880 bottles of the prohibited syrup.
The consignment, valued at approximately ₹5.7 lakh, was found to have been illegally transported from Kolkata to Aizawl and Imphal.
Legal action has been initiated against those responsible for the transportation and storage of the banned substance.
