GUWAHATI: The Cotton University campus in Rupnagar, Guwahati, is struggling to complete its construction due to lack of funds. Located on a 14-bigha plot of land, a portion of the campus is currently being utilised as staff quarters, accommodating seven families.
Speaking to G Plus, a resident living on the campus expressed their frustration, stating, "I have been living here for 1.5 years and have seen the buildings abandoned." The incomplete state of the campus has become a cause for concern, as it hinders the university's ability to provide adequate facilities to students and staff members.
According to a senior official from Cotton University, the issue of insufficient funds for the campus is a controversial one.
The official further stated, "No funds have been provided, so we are unable to complete the construction."
The campus's construction began in 2007, but due to financial constraints, it was not fully completed.
Owing to the incomplete state of construction, the university officials have raised concerns and sought assistance from the relevant authorities. However, their efforts have yielded little response or support. The lack of proper funding has hindered the progress of the campus, leaving it in an abandoned state for years.
As the campus remains incomplete due to insufficient funds, the plight of Cotton University in Rupnagar serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by educational institutions in pursuing their developmental goals.
