GUWAHATI: Assam Police has registered cases against two mosques in Assam for allegedly hiding information pertaining to sheltering Tablighi Jamaat visitors.

Speaking to the media, DSP Kalyan Kumar Pathak said, "Upon investigation it was found that in South Kamrup, Agradoot Mosque, Palimangal Mosque and Arikati Mosque had sheltered 12 people from Uttar Pradesh and Meerut."

Meanwhile, all the people have been tracked and with the help of the district administration and health department, they have now been shifted to the quarantine centre in Kalitakuchi in Hajo.

Further, the state government had earlier instructed all the mosque committees to provide information of such Tablighi Jamaat visitors or attendees to the nearest police stations; however a few of the committees have failed to do so and have allegedly suppressed the information.

Based on this, two cases have been registered against Agradoot Mosque under Chaygaon and Palimangal Mosque under Boko and the police have apprehended the president and the secretary of the respective mosques. Legal action will be initiated against them.
