GUWAHATI: The construction for the proposed bridge between Guwahati and North Guwahati will start after it receives a loan from the New Development Bank, earlier known as BRICS Development Bank, said Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam public works department minister on Sunday, June 30.
According to reports, the bank will finalise the loan of Rs. 2,600 crore on July 8, following which the PWD department will start construction of the bridge in September.
Sarma said that the proposed 1.6 kilometre bridge over the Brahmaputra will reduce travel time to North Guwahati via Saraighat bridge to a great extent.
