Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal.
Speaking to G Plus Banik said, “The incident happened somewhere between Maligaon gate Number 1 and 3. As I was driving through, I saw that concrete clusters were constantly falling off and some concrete fell on the roof of a car in front of me. I don’t know the damage caused to that car”.
“As there was too much traffic behind me, I could not stop the car at the moment the concrete fell and damaged the windshield,” she said.
“At that time, there wasn’t anyone nearby to whom I could complain about the damage,” she further said, adding that she has not filed a police complaint at the time of filing the report.
On being asked if someone has got back to her about the tweet, she said, “No, so far no one has responded to the tweet.”
It may be recalled here that a 15-foot-long iron beam fell on a sedan passing below the under-construction Zoo Road flyover in September 2022, which damaged the car. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
The passenger in the Zoo Road incident had filed a complaint with the Geeta Nagar Police then and the traffic in-charge of Geeta Nagar PS had rushed to the scene to investigate the incident.
An official from the PWD talking to G Plus on condition of anonymity said, “The incident should not have happened and we have already ordered an enquiry into the incident. The workers at the site are asked to follow all the protocols so that no one is harmed and no such incidents should occur.”
“The work is ongoing in full swing but still such incidents should be avoided,” added the official.
