GUWAHATI: Noonmati Police arrested one Naba Talukdar (age 33) from Patharquarry for being involved in a cash-for-jobs scam with the IOCL Refinery, Guwahati.
The 33 year old allegedly took money from several people and promised them jobs in the Guwahati Refinery.
According to reports, Naba Talukdar had two more accomplices in the scam – Mukut Bhagowati and Tabibur Rahman. The trio reportedly took money from 45 people which ranged from Rs. 1 Lakh to 7 Lakhs, per person.
Talukdar was arrested based on the complaint of one Ratul Ahmed who himself was a victim. An FIR has been registered under IPC 100/18 at the Noonmati Police Station.
The Police are currently investigating the matter and trying to arrest the other 2 accused.
Interestingly, the documents recovered from Naba Talukdar indicate the involvement for Guwahati Refinery officials also.
