GUWAHATI: Congress MP Rakibul Hussain was attacked by a group of miscreants at Natun Bazar in Rupahihat on Thursday while heading to a Congress workers' meeting in Gunabari.

The assailants, with their faces covered in black cloth, initially waved black flags at Hussain before launching their attack. In the chaos, the MP’s bodyguard was also assaulted, escalating the tension further.
In response, Hussain’s security personnel fired warning shots into the air to disperse the attackers and ensure his safety. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
Talking to GPlus, a senior police official said, “We are investigating this attack which occurred on MP Hussain today.”
