Addressing the press at Lok Sewa Bhawan, Sarma expressed confidence that the summit, scheduled for February 25-26 , would attract investments exceeding ₹1 lakh crore, alongside infrastructure projects valued at over ₹50,000 crore, largely supported by the central government.
“I am confident that the summit will generate investments beyond ₹1 lakh crore, with further scope for expansion. On the infrastructure front, we expect projects worth over ₹50,000 crore,” he stated.
The chief minister noted that the current projections exclude major corporate announcements yet to be made by industry leaders such as Mukesh Ambani and Sajjan Jindal.
“We are yet to see what Ambani, Jindal, and others will announce—that remains their prerogative,” he added.
Sarma further revealed that the state government has already received 1,500 specific requests for Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across various sectors, including sustainable aviation fuel, power projects, hospitals, universities, and medical colleges.
He also emphasised that while private investment proposals, including those for road and bridge projects, are welcome, they will undergo stringent scrutiny by the state cabinet.
“Large-scale announcements can be made, but our priority is to ensure that all investments materialise. That is why we are carefully evaluating every proposal,” he stressed.
Unlike other investment summits where MoUs are signed first and subsequently reviewed, Assam will follow a reverse approach, ensuring cabinet approval before any agreement is finalised.
“The cabinet will conduct a thorough scrutiny on February 23, and no MoU will be signed without its approval. Our goal is to facilitate only genuine investments,” he asserted.
With strong domestic and international interest, Advantage Assam 2.0 is expected to be a milestone event in the state’s industrial and infrastructural growth.
