Congress-JMM Alliance Emerge as Single Largest Party in Jharkhand

GUWAHATI: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has emerged as the single-largest party in the 81-seat assembly with party leader Hemant Soren set to stake claim to power on December 23. 

Reportedly, the JMM-Congress alliance has comfortably crossed the majority mark of 41.

"Today a new chapter will begin for this state. I want to assure everyone that their hopes will not be broken irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and profession," said Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Ranchi.

Addressing the media, Hemant Soren said, "The people of Jharkhand have given a clear mandate and I am grateful to them." He also expresses his gratitude towards former chief minister Shibu Soren and the alliance leaders, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
