GUWAHATI: Assam Congress has finalised tickets for Gaurav Gogoi from Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency and Sushmita Dev from Silchar constituency on March 7 for the forthcoming general election.
The screening committee of the Congress headed by Harish Rawat, Congress in-charge for Assam selected the two candidates from each of the other constituencies except Kalibor and Silchar.
Rawat further mentioned that the decision to give candidature to sitting MP Biren Singh Engti of the Karbi Anglong constituency has not taken place.
He informed that the final list of the candidates to be field for the Lok Sabha election to be held this year will release on March 12. However, the screening committee will sit for another session regarding finalising the candidates’ names.
Ripun Bora and leader of the opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia were also present at the meeting.
