Congress Announces Candidates For Assam Bye-elections

 

GUWAHATI: The Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the party's candidates for the upcoming bye-elections in Assam.

In Assam, Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha will contest from 11-Dholai (SC), Sanjib Warle from 31-Sidli (ST), Brajenjit Sinha from 32-Bongaigaon, and Tanzil Hussain from 88-Samaguri Constituency, according to the press release on Sunday, October 20.

The bye-elections for five Assembly constituencies in Assam will take place on November 13, as confirmed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 15.

The constituencies involved in the bye-elections include 11-Dholai (SC), 31-Sidli (ST), 32-Bongaigaon, 77-Behali, and 88-Samaguri. These seats became vacant after the MLAs resigned following their election to the Lok Sabha.

The last day for filing nominations is October 25, and the counting of votes is scheduled for November 23.

Additionally, Kharge also announced candidates for Madhya Pradesh bye-elections.  For MP, Mukesh Malhotra has been chosen for the 2-Vijaypur seat, while Rajkumar Patel for the 156-Budhni constituency.
