GUWAHATI: A complaint was lodged at Dispur Police Station on January 4 regarding an incident of animal cruelty involving a community street dog named Kaali. The incident took place around 11:30 AM near Lichubagan auto stand on Sachindra Kumar Das Path, close to Namghar Path.

According to eyewitnesses, Pranjal Talukdar, a resident of the area, allegedly assaulted the dog following a mutual show of aggression between her and a pet dog. The attack reportedly left the dog severely injured. "Kaali was rushed to Khanapara Veterinary Hospital, where she is currently admitted for treatment. She has internal injuries and a wound in her left eye," said a local resident who assisted in the rescue.
Following the incident, residents of the area informed an animal activist, and the accused was later called upon to apologise on January 5.
Talking to GPlus,an official from Dispur Police Station said, "No arrests have been made yet, but we are investigating the matter."
