GUWAHATI: A complaint was filed at the Bhangagarh police station for uploading an image of bikini-clad Swiss actress, Bond girl Ursula Andress as UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi on Facebook.
The image was allegedly uploaded by Bitupon Phukon. He uploaded a picture of Ursula Andress and captioned it as ‘Soniya Mata’ beside a picture of Goddess Durga with the caption ‘Bharat Mata’ on his timeline. The post also had ‘offensive comments.’
The complaint was lodged by Netraranjan Choudhury, a member of the social media department of the APCC on March 11 and a copy of the FIR was also marked to the State Election Commissioner, Assam.
“The post is very derogatory and it shouldn’t happen. We are responsible citizens of the country and should take care about such things,” said Choudhury.
“We have come across an abusive/derogatory content in Facebook with malicious intention to malign Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, UPA. It is worth mentioning that the picture is Ursula Andress, a Swiss film actress and a look-alike of Mrs Sonia Gandhi,” the FIR stated.
According to the FIR, Phukon is from Bekadolong, Sonari in Charaideo district of Assam. Phukon, as per his Facebook bio, is a member of BJP, Charaideo.
